My Journey to Holistic Wellness for Women: Why I Walked Away from Yin Yoga.

I used to think yoga was about the push. Coming from a C-level background in the fast-paced iGaming world, I was addicted to the 'Yang'—the heat, the sweat, and the constant drive to do more. When I first discovered the true meaning of holistic wellness for women, I realized that my nervous system was actually begging for the opposite of what I was giving it. When I finally stepped onto a Yin Yoga mat in Thailand after 18 years of private practice, I actually hated it at first. I even walked away. My nervous system was so triggered that stillness felt like a threat. I told myself, “This is too hard for me.”
What I didn't realize then was that the resistance I felt wasn't physical; it was my nervous system begging for a break. In a world that rewards "doing," Yin Yoga is the radical act of "being."
Unlike the flow classes you might see on Instagram, Yin is slow. We hold floor-based poses for 3–5 minutes. We don’t push. We listen. We target the deep connective tissues—the fascia and joints—where we store our deepest stress.
Living and working in Malta, it’s easy to stay in "fight or flight" mode. If you feel like you're constantly "acting," your body is likely holding onto that tension.
Nervous System Reset: We use specific breathwork (Pranayama) to tell your brain it’s safe to relax.
Emotional Release: Deep holds help unlock the "issues in your tissues."
Better Sleep: Many of my students report the best sleep of their week after a Yin session.
As a certified teacher, I now combine my 18 years of yoga experience with the lessons I learned in Thailand. My sessions aren't just about stretching; they are a guided experience using breathwork to bridge the gap between your busy mind and your resting body.
If you think you’re “too restless” for Yin Yoga, you are exactly who needs it most. I’ve been there—I literally walked out of the room once! Now, I’m here to hold that space for you.
Ready to find your stillness? Join me for a local Yin Yoga & Breathwork session in Malta.
